For our honeymoon me and my wife take a cruise out of Miami and of course have to fly there from Salt Lake City. So the cheapest flight there is American Airlines with a connection in Dallas.
The morning that we're suppose to hope on the flight we were so tired we over slept our flight, so I call American Airlines and for $50 they put us on an afternoon flight and say their is plenty of time during the layover to get us on the connecting flight at Dallas. Well we get to Dallas and the pilot must us went from Salt Lake to Dallas via a flyover of London, so we get there late. So we're told if we run to our next flight we'll make it. Well we run from one terminal to the next and get to the gate and the jetway is closed, still 15 minutes before our flight is suppose to take off! I ask the lady if we can get on our flight and she says no, they gave our seats to someone else! So I'm irate, the least they could of done was hold the plane for 5 minutes to let us on, so the witch at the counter puts us on the next flight 2 hours later. Well we finally get to Miami at 9 PM, 6 hours later than originally planed and what's waiting for us? Our luggage! Some how they were able to get out luggage to out flight but they would let us. Err!
So then after the cruise we go to Miami International, which by the way is the most disgusting airport known to man, the airport in Iraq was nicer than that place, no joke. And our plane is delayed because one of the engines won't work, so they have to kick all of the first class snobs off and fix it, 30 minutes of delay, no big deal since we have a 2 hour layover in Dallas. Well we finally get on the plane and we are waiting forever and the A/C on the plane was none existent, it was like hell in the fuselage. So the flight attendant comes over the speaker and says the pilots for our plane are late and that they are held up in New York! The flight attendants were total jerks to everyone and treated everyone like crap. The pilots finally get there and we leave Miami 90 minutes late, insane. We get to Dallas and everyone wants to get off the plane to get to their connection to Canada, yes we were on a plane full of maple syrup drinking Canadians. Their flight leave in like 30 minutes, while our flight leaves in 15, so they end up holding the plane for the Canadians and we're trying to cut through the aisle to get out and run to our flight, only one Canadian couple would let us in front of them, the other's were like were in the same boat. Umm, no you're not, your flight is being held and ours is not.
So we finally get off the plane and end up running, yes full sprint, to our next gate which the attendants said was waiting for us. Well we get to the gate the the jetway is still open and people are still boarding, so we're relieved. When I get to the counter the door closes! I'm like I'm on this flight and the guy was like you're late! I'm late, no your crappy company made me late because your planning sucks. So he's like I can get you on a flight 4 hours from now! I lost it, I flipped on the guy and let all of my anger out on this very snobby employee. So I tell him I refuse to take his flight and I refuse to fly American Airlines from Dallas to Salt Lake and told him he better get me on some other Airline, keep in mind I think the entire terminal could hear me at this point. So he ends ups putting us on a Skywest flight that leaves in about an hour.
So we get on our Skywest flight and it's great, the attendants are nice, the flight leaves and arrives on time. But we get to Salt Lake and our bags didn't make it! So we go to American's counter and no one is there!!! This is an international airport, at least one person needs to be there. So then we go to Delta's counter (they're partners with Skywest) and they start the process to get our bags. Well the next day comes and I check the status and they still haven't found our bags. I call American and ask where my bags are with the bag tracking numbers and they're completely lost! So I call Delta and let them know and they looked into it more. I check that evening and still not found, so I call Delta and light into them and tell them the retards at American Airlines probably have our bags sitting in their Salt Lake airport bag office. So they go check and low and be hold, they have it chilling right their in Salt Lake. We finally get our bags almost 48 hours after our flight lands.
So I call American to complain about this whole thing and they no longer have a complaints department you can call, you can only email and when you email you're limited to 500 characters, I needed a lot more than that! So the guy finally emails me back and says he's sorry about all of it. So I reply back sorry isn't enough and give him the rest of the story. So he replied back and gave me a $200 coupon for a flight with American.
Needless to say hell will freeze over before I use that coupon or American Airlines again. So hearing American Airlines is having troubles makes me happy. I hope that American goes out of business and the government doesn't bail them out. Everyone of their employees is truly a jerk and quite frankly deserves to be drawing unemployment, it couldn't happen to better people.
